Convenient Testing with Careful Medical Follow-Up
Selected in-office testing when clinically appropriate
Harbor Physicians offers selected point-of-care testing for patients ages 14 and older. Your physician may also order laboratory work, X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, or other diagnostic studies through an outside laboratory or imaging facility when medically necessary.
Testing and Diagnostic Services
Our physicians use selected in-office testing to help evaluate common illnesses and medical concerns. When additional laboratory work or imaging is needed, we provide the appropriate orders and coordinate testing through outside facilities.
Rapid Flu, COVID-19 and Strep Testing
Rapid testing may be performed during your visit when clinically appropriate to help evaluate respiratory and throat symptoms and guide treatment decisions.
EKG
Electrocardiograms may be used to evaluate heart rhythm, palpitations, selected chest symptoms, or other concerns when the physician determines an EKG is appropriate.
Urinalysis
Urine testing may help evaluate urinary symptoms, possible urinary tract infection, hydration status, blood or glucose in the urine, and other selected medical concerns.
Pregnancy Testing and Pap Specimen Collection
Pregnancy testing and Pap specimen collection may be available when clinically appropriate. Pap specimens collected in our office are sent to an outside laboratory for analysis.
Need Laboratory Work or Diagnostic Imaging?
If your physician determines that blood work, X-rays, CT scans, MRI, ultrasound, or another diagnostic study is appropriate, Harbor Physicians can provide the order and help coordinate testing with an outside laboratory or imaging facility.
What Happens During a Testing Visit?
Testing is selected based on your symptoms, health history and your physician's clinical assessment. Not every patient needs the same test, and some testing may need to be completed at an outside facility.

Your physician reviews your symptoms, medical history, medications and examination findings before deciding whether testing is needed.
Appropriate Test Selection
Your physician determines whether an in-office test, outside laboratory order, imaging study or another evaluation is appropriate.
Testing or Order Placement
Selected tests may be completed in our office. Laboratory work and imaging not performed on-site are ordered through an outside facility.
Results and Follow-Up
Your physician reviews available results and recommends treatment, monitoring, additional testing or follow-up when appropriate.

If you have already completed testing related to your current concern, bringing those records can help your physician understand what has already been evaluated.

When Testing Is Not Performed in Our Office
Harbor Physicians can provide orders for medically appropriate laboratory work and diagnostic imaging that are not performed on-site. The facility used may depend on the type of study, insurance coverage and availability.
